International Relations,
University of Nairobi

For over three years now, Shamsia has been working with the National Drought Management Authority under the Hunger Safety Net Program as the Case Management Assistant.

She graduated with first-class honors and significant experience from her internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Penology & Security Studies,
Moi University

Naomi continues to nurture her talents and influence young students esteem as a teacher at Grain of Rice Academy, in the field of music and life skills.

Dianah is now a full time Guest and Partnership Manager at Daraja Academy. She also fosters her entrepreneurship skills as an Owner and Operator of an online clothing shop.

Dianah finished as one of the top students in her graduating class and best overall in entrepreneurship

Florence is following her career path as a nurse at the County Government of Isiolo. Florence is now able to support six family members.

Since Joyce was young, she lived for livestock handling. She is now more equipped with knowledge around her passion and is self-employed as a livestock attendant and supplier of veterinary medicine in her local community.

Regina is now an Assistant Auditor in northern Kenya at the Audit Firm.

Mesret is now a Groundwater Engineer at Well Aware; a nonprofit that funds and implements sustainable clean water systems to drive economic development in East Africa.

Mathematics and physics teacher at a Private Secondary School in Nakuru County. She comes from a background of farmers, and always believed teaching is best job to will allow her to accomplish the research and projects she is passionate about. She enjoys watching curiosity and new ideas blossom from her students.

 

Veronicah

Forensic and Criminal Investigation,
Kenya Institute of Security and Criminal Justice

Veronicah is a fully-fledged government employee; a Detective in the anti-terrorism and human trafficking department in Kenya. She has beaten all odds and nullified the dejection she once felt, because not many people believed she would accomplish such dreams.

“I was born for the sake of others. I hope to one day be the light in another girl’s life as GLOW has been in mine.”

 

 They Pay it Forward

Juster: Teaching school girls how to use sanitary pads and discussing matters reproductive health, hygiene and goal setting.

Sheril: Discussing the practices of self-love and self-care with primary school children.

Purity: Giving outpatients a health talk on the signs, symptoms and preventive measures for malaria.

Mary: Volunteering at local hospital during COVID Outbreak

Doreen: Teaches art as a form of therapy and rehabilitation for women, children and people with disabilities to improve their wellness and mental health.

Gladys: Leading an entrepreneurial talk with youth from her village.

Joan: Leading local primary school children in a tree planting exercise.

Mesret: Creating and building hand washing stations for her community during COVID

Jecinta: Worked with the local Disasters and Environment Management Association

Sheril: Cleaning up after cooking for and feeding over 100 homeless people living on the streets.

Christine: Cleaning up and clearing the drainage system in Buruburu and Lungalunga shopping centers to prevent a cholera outbreak.

Purity: Checking and recording a patient's blood pressure and BMI at a local clinic.

Juster: Offering free consultation services, check ups and preventive information for common diseases during a medical camp in a rural community with strained access to healthcare.

Joan: Planting trees during a field day at the Dedan Kimathi Foundation

Purity: Created a database for a local hospital and teaches kids how to garden
