Post-Graduation Alumni Engagement

GLOW takes pride in a thriving community of 85+ alumni. Beyond graduation, our mission extends to keeping our girls actively involved. Since the inaugural graduate class of 2018, we've orchestrated programs that successfully beckon alumni back into the fold. Their return is not just symbolic; it's a testament to the deep ties to our community. Our alumni generously contribute to the ongoing growth of our network, passionately volunteering in various capacities. Here's a glimpse into the impactful ways they continue to shape and uplift the GLOW community.

Alumni as Guides and Mentors

Our alumni aren't just past students; they're actively engaged in mentorship programs that bridge experience with aspiration. Through our professional mentorship programs, they are also matched with accomplished businesswomen in the country. Alumni also guide current scholarship recipients. From college and life advice to sharing insights about the job market, their mentorship goes beyond the academic, providing invaluable support for the younger girls navigating their educational journeys. It's a harmonious cycle of knowledge sharing and empowerment that defines the essence of the GLOW community.

Alumni Inspiration and Lead

Their connection extends beyond both physical and virtual programs. We regularly extend invitations for them to take the stage, whether at events, training sessions or as facilitators. Their presence adds a unique dimension, offering a firsthand account of their personal journeys, challenges faced, lessons learned and the triumphs they've celebrated. By sharing these experiences, they provide current beneficiaries with tangible, real-life perspectives from peers who have navigated the same path.

At our 2022 annual mentorship retreat, alumni like Dianah and Naomi, both successful entrepreneurs running their own small businesses, shared invaluable insights on starting, managing and sustaining such ventures. The girls in attendance left with a wealth of new business ideas and practical tips to enhance their own side hustles.

Moreover, Barbara took the lead in facilitating monthly training sessions over three months. The topics ranged from self-identity, self-management to stress management. These sessions not only imparted valuable skills but also created a sense of community and shared growth.

Alumni Pave the Way

They stand tall as proficient guides in career and professional development. Through a series of workshops, they bring not only their expertise but also hands-on insights into the tools crucial for transitioning from academia to the professional world. Beside expert guidance from more experienced professionals, alumni share practical experiences, empowering the younger girls with tools for a smooth transition.

Peer Support Network

They also support one another through their peer network. They share advice, experiences, job leads and many more resources with one another, which promotes unity in the group and a supportive network beyond GLOW.

Advising

Having gone through the program successfully, our former scholarship recipients freely contribute their insights and suggestions for program improvement. Their perspectives are respected and their feedback valued and is critical in shaping the future of our programs.
